Club Members Advocate for Gun Safety Laws

Several club members recently attended the annual Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America Advocacy Day in Sacramento. The event drew more than 250 Moms supporters from throughout the state, in spite of wet weather. The event kicked off with a rally on the State Capitol’s West Steps and featured key speakers who discussed important new gun safety legislation. These included State Senator Anthony Portantino, co-author of SB-2, which restricts concealed carry firearms in public areas, and Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel, author of AB-28, which imposes a tax on firearm and ammunition sales in CA to fund violence intervention and prevention programs. Moms members also met with more than 75 legislators, including our district’s Senator Catherine Blakespear, a gun safety champion.
